Næstved’s International Festival of Street Theatre
The second STREET CUT will hit your streets Friday 10th and Saturday 11th of August, featuring international artists from France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, USA and Denmark.
The performances take place at Axeltorv and throughout the town, though the main body of the festival will again be found at the Culture Centre, where there will be the Festival Square with food stalls, children’s activities and music between the shows. On both Friday and Saturday, you can follow the Spanish theatre “XIRRIQUETUELA TEATRE” and their fascinating giraffes from Axel Torv to the Culture Centre.

The festival is supported by Næstved Kommune, Næstved Teater, Nordea and Næstved City. There is free admission to all of the performances as well as for this year’s new creation, “Faster Cool’s Cake Table”, where the local theatre’s own diva (alias Camille í Dali) invites both man and beast for coffee/juice and cake; accompanied by music played by Faster Cools Flødeskums-orkester (Auntie Cool and The Whipped Cream Orchestra), crazy waiters and other assorted surprises.

”Crazy Coppers” DANSK RAKKERPAK (DK)
Næstved’s own completely crazy and hard-hitting police corps patrol on horseback enforcing both law and order during the festival.
”Tutta in Valigia” (Everything in One Suitcase) LUIGI CIOTTA (IT)
Suitcases in suitcases in suitcases…objects that change the whole time, bringing new scenes to life. A wonderful mix of physical theatre, clownery and circus tricks.
”Girafes” XIRRIQUETUELA TEATRE (ES)
A wandering giraffe family roam the streets of the town. Playful creation of a dream-like, Savannah atmosphere.
”Asuelto” HURyCAN (FR/ARG)
4 dancers in an international, prizewinning performance, combining dance, acrobatics and physical theatre in a humorous, simple and spectacular choreography.
”Life is Good” DANSK RAKKERPAK (DK/IT)
A comic tragedy about friendship told in a universal theatre language peppered in live music, slapstick, comedy and poetry.
”Deux Secondes” LA COMPAGNIE DU PETIT MONSIEUR (FR)
A small man in a much too small suit in an unfair fight with a self-erecting tent. Sidesplitting slapstick at full blast.
”Forever Young” TEATRET BRÆNDENDE KÆRLIGHED (DK)
A comic satire on the beauty and medicine industry and its methods and modern times’ anxiety over the aging process.
”Cirkus Skunk” DAVID SKUNK (USA/DK)
A clown of real special quality, who in true showmanship, commands the stage with pocketsful of lovely tricks and the smell of the real circus!

Modern Scandinavian ballads with a trace of Balkan, blues og 70’s beatmusik. Content includes heartbreak, loneliness, children, friends, lies, womanhood and nightlife.
Saturday
Urgorskij & Kragen (DK)
Andreas Ugorskij on guitar, Jakob Kragesand on double bass and the two metre tall Thyge S. P. on violin set the festival square ablaze with spell-binding strings and blasting bawlers!
